Something Magnificent – Liz Wise

Liz Wise is an internationally recognised brand, communications and innovations strategist; speaker and mentor. Over the last 20 years she has worked in Australia, UK, Europe and USA transforming some of the world’s best-known brands. After nearly a decade overseas, Liz returned to Australia in 2014 where she has proudly worked on internationally recognised campaigns for Western Sydney University and famed Australian skincare brand Jurlique. Most recently she has directly consulted on digital communications transformation for both the Australian Department of Education and Training, and the Australian Department of Communications and the Arts. She has also designed and delivered training to over 300 marketeers across the Westpac Group.

Liz regularly devotes her time to the not for profit sector and in 2018 co-founded an initiative to provide underprivileged and indigenous youth with training in Design Thinking.

Modern Equivalent – Paul Alexandrou

Now based in Sydney after close to a decade in London, Paul is the founder of Modern Equivalent — an ideas and innovation firm that helps ambitious brands disrupt like startups, and gutsy startups scale global brands.

Previously, he’s held senior leadership posts at some of the world’s most progressive creative companies—including IMG/WME, McCann breakaway Story, and mcgarrybowen/Dentsu Aegis in London—helping the likes of Lexus, Diet Coke, Pernod Ricard, Mondelēz, Unilever, Fashion Week and the BBC create relevance, impact and connect with audiences increasingly hard to reach.

Paul’s actively involved in the media/tech startup community—including leadership, investment, advisory and speaking— a number of startups that have been funded, listed and featured in the mainstream media, from the Wall Street Journal to Wired.

His work has been recognised across a range of disciplines, with awards spanning advertising, film, emerging media and the Arts; from Cannes Lions to the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand, from Arts Councils to Oprah.

Fix Branding – Penny Bowring

Penny Bowring has an enviable reputation as a specialist in brand strategy, having headed the prestigious branding firm Emery Vincent Design for 18 years (now Frost Design).

Her experience and intuitive understanding of design, combined with her strong analytical skills, contributes to her reputation and success as a strategist and creative director for Australian and international brands. Penny has frequently addressed brand seminars and conferences in Australia and Asia.

She has been a project director and lead strategist on many integrated rebrand and communications projects for some of Australia’s leading creative, corporate and government organisations.

Significant long term branding programs include Macquarie Bank, City of Sydney, ING, ANZ and UTS. Arts sector branding programs include Sydney Symphony, Radio 2UE, Sydney Festival (3 Directors).


Stuart Buchanan

Stuart has been at the intersection of culture, technology and media for over twenty years, as a director, producer and marketer of innovative creative work.

Fiercely passionate about the development of new audiences for music, arts and culture, he works as an independent consultant for clients such as Sydney Opera House, Museum Of Contemporary Art, TEDxSydney and Art Gallery of New South Wales.

As director of digital agency, The Nest, Stuart collaborated with Alphabet on projects for Sydney Festival and Opera Australia

Stuart has lectured at many cultural conferences and events and continues to run a sold-out series of Masterclasses on Digital Strategy for The Guardian. He is currently Chair of Underbelly Arts and regularly presents on both FBi Radio and ABC Double J.

Ashleigh Steel

Ashleigh worked with Alphabet for 3 years. Her strengths in concept and design development are evident in diverse projects including City of Sydney’s Art and About Campaign and Oxford and Foley precinct activation and Sydney City Farm, Northcott Disability Services and ANAM.

Ashleigh, has moved on to focus on writing and is regularly featured in Smith Journal, Frankie Magazine as well as writing and composing for the ABC childrens program – Giggle and Hoot.  Continuing to collaborate with Alphabet, Ashley aplies her sharp wit and clever word play to clients such as Urban Purveyor Group,  UNSW and SIPCA.
