New Director. New season. New look.

Recognised as one of the world’s most distinguished broadcast ensembles, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra has, for over a century, enthralled audiences with its vibrant energy, virtuosity, and unmistakable sound.

A real highlight — our collaboration with the talented BBC team focused on developing a fresh, distinctive brand evolution and season campaign, presenting the Orchestra to the UK and beyond. Stripping away the pomp and formality often associated with the higher arts, we took the conversation to the pub!

The 2025/26 season marks a bold new chapter in the Orchestra’s visual communications — and the shake-up has already proven a success on all fronts.

Selected members of the Orchestra were asked to nominate three things that moved them, made them happy, or gave them pause to reflect — the things that define them. From Siberian cats to heavy metal, the players shared content that was authentic, curious, and deeply relatable.

Working within the BBC’s clearly defined brand guidelines, we led with Proza, a complementary serif typeface for all headline copy. The colour palette was refined to three core tones, and the photographic art direction centred on capturing honest, characterful portraits in familiar, relevant environments. A “come as you are” styling approach ensured the imagery felt approachable and real.

At the heart of the campaign is colloquial language — positioning the Orchestra as open, human, and accessible. It breaks down barriers, invites conversation, and redefines how classical music can connect with people.
